WINNIE - I am a recent Management and IT graduate from the University of Manchester and now work for a large professional services firm. My vision is putting education back into the agenda as I believe it is the key to unlocking the potential of our younger generation.
I established WLFF together with a close-knit group of friends with the aim of leveraging collective experiences and contacts to improve the availability/quality of educational resources in Nigeria.
I absolutely love travelling and discovering new cultures as well as meeting new people. My ideal day out would involve visiting old record shops, a trip to an art gallery and might finish off with salsa dancing. Contact Winnie (Please choose winnie in category)
LONDE - I am a lawyer to be who loves writing, cooking and participating in competitive sports. I believe that creativity and passion have enabled me to be truly individual.
I would strike a chord with some of you when I say that I got tired of being that girl who cries and gives money at the Children in Need and NSPCC videos. It is time for me to be pro-active.
The exposure that I have had to a wide variety of cultures and opportunities due to my education convinces me that this would be the best place to begin helping others. Contact Londe (Please choose Londe in category)
TORI - As the resident scientist(/geek), I obtained a degree in Chemistry from the University of Manchester and I’m currently doing a PhD in synthetic chemistry in London.
My involvement with W.L.F.F can be attributed to a genuine desire to bring about change, however small, to the educational welfare of at least one young person. I also have a firm belief in the positive role of relevant and practical education in the transformation of lives and communities.
My go-getter attitude and kick-ass organisation skills will only serve to make W.L.F.F an outstanding means of giving back the gift of improved education to as many disadvantaged people as possible.
And......who better to start to change the world with than with the beautiful, talented and gracious women I am privileged to call my friends. Contact Tori (Please choose Tori in category)
BIMBO - I am a budding Accountant. I love soul music, cooking, dancing and happy endings.
I like to think I am the gooey soft centre of the wlff friends.
Im happiest when im singing, getting into a passionate debate about something or the other, getting friends to laugh at my random jokes, being unashamedly weepy at the end of a good film, practising my italian on an unamusing italian.
The 'problems in Africa' is a well worn out topic in the media and at get -to- gethers. It's great to finally be doing something to help in education specifically –a sector which will help to build a stronger/poverty free Africa ultimately. Contact Bimbo (Please choose Bimbo in category)
DAMILOLA - I am driven and passionate about life and its many opportunities! I strive to make a difference in every way possible whether it be through my professional or personal life.
WLFF provides a means for me to give back to those who may not have had the same opportunities as I have and I look forward to seeing the positive impact we will have in the lives of young people.
Enthusiasm and strategic thinking are the qualities I will bring to WLFF as well as angelic vocals and a dry sense of humour. In my role as Finance Lady I promise to guard WLFF finances with my life and keep the tax man's grubby mitts off our money! Contact Dami (Please choose Dami in category)
SEUN - I am a pharmacy student and a very active person. My hobbies include rock-climbing, swimming, reading, music and spending time quality time with my friends.
I am very passionate about what we stand for because I believe education is fundamental in the development of the younger generation.
One of my main inspirations is Prof. Dora Nkem Akunyili, a pharmacist who has made eradication of counterfeit drugs in Nigeria, her top priority, a matter very close to my heart. I am also inspired also by my friends who share my passion on how important education is, identifying the key problems and most importantly, actively doing some about it.
